DYNAMIQS Workshop: Quantum Phases and Ordering
The DYNAMIQS Workshop: Quantum Phases and Ordering was held on May 20 and 22, 2025, at the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Belgrade, as part of the international conference "Advances in Solid State Physics and New Materials 2025".
The Workshop brought together internationally recognized researchers to discuss some of the most compelling open questions in condensed matter physics. Organized within the framework of the DYNAMIQS project - Dynamics of charge density wave transitions in strained quasi-one-dimensional systems - the workshop served as a focused platform for exploring emergent quantum phases, symmetry breaking, and ultrafast phenomena in low-dimensional materials.
The program featured contributions from several leading figures in the field, including Herman Suderow (Spain), Yann Gallais (France), Goran Karapetrov (USA), and Tobias Ritschel (Germany), among others. Their presentations reflected a wide range of approaches — from spectroscopy and ultrafast optics to electron microscopy and theoretical modeling — used to probe correlated electron systems, unconventional superconductivity, and CDW behavior in materials such as CrI₃, TiSe₂, and 1T-TaS₂.
The sessions encouraged broader discussions on how electronic, lattice, and spin degrees of freedom interact, particularly under external perturbations like strain or optical excitation. The combination of in-depth talks and informal discussions created a productive environment for exchanging ideas across different subfields.
The workshop also reaffirmed Belgrade’s growing role as a center for meaningful scientific exchange and collaboration in the study of quantum materials.
DYNAMIQS Workshop: Quantum Phases and Ordering
Part of the "Advances in Solid State Physics and New Materials 2025” Conference
Conference Dates: May 19–23, 2025
Workshop Dates: May 20 and 22, 2025
Location: Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Belgrade
The DYNAMIQS Workshop: Quantum Phases and Ordering is organized within the framework of the DYNAMIQS project – Dynamics of CDW Transition in Quasi-1D Systems, funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia (Grant No. 10925).
The workshop Quantum Phases and Ordering explores the rich and diverse landscape of strongly correlated materials, focusing on emergent quantum phases and ordering phenomena. As part of the DYNAMIQS project (Dynamics of CDW Transition in Strained Quasi-1D Systems), funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, these sessions bring together researchers investigating charge density waves, unconventional superconductivity, and topological or metastable quantum states. The program includes both experimental and theoretical contributions, addressing quantum criticality, symmetry breaking, ultrafast dynamics, and the interplay between electronic and lattice degrees of freedom. Special emphasis is placed on the effects of strain and reduced dimensionality in tuning and stabilizing novel phases. The workshop aims to foster discussion on how these intertwined factors drive complex behavior in correlated quantum systems.

DYNAMIQS Open Door Day
On April 22, 2025, the DYNAMIQS Open Door Day was held at the Center for Solid State Physics and New Materials, Institute of Physics Belgrade. The event gathered scientists and PhD students, as well as interested students from the Faculty of Physics and the Faculty of Physical Chemistry, University of Belgrade. The program began with an introductory address by the Head of the Center for Solid State Physics and New Materials, Dr. Nenad Lazarević, who welcomed the attendees and highlighted the importance of the DYNAMIQS project for both the Center and the Institute. This was followed by a lecture presenting the goals and key results of the project, held in the library reading room “Dr. Dragan Popović.” After the presentation, visitors toured the laboratory, where the experimental setup was demonstrated and the project’s workflow was explained in detail.
